Fabcurate – The one-stop destination for all your fabric needs. A review of the best online store for high quality fabrics in India – cotton, silk , georgette and more. Here’s a review of the two travel-friendly cotton fabrics I bought.
About Fabcurate
Fabcurate started off as a community of fashion designers who explored nooks and corners of the country to curate the best fabrics for their creations. The online store in its current form came into being recognizing the need to make these fabrics available for all without the “minimum quantity limit”. At Fabcurate you can browse through hundreds of designs and materials , even upload your own design to be put on a material of your choice. You are three simple steps away from curating your garments and furnishings from a plethora of fabrics available in the store.
Step 1: Select a Design or upload a design of your own
Step 2: Choose a Fabric
Step 3: Place your order for “x” meters of cloth. There is no minimum quantity limit, no terms and conditions attached
Be it a travel photoshoot, family function or a stage performance where we need color coordinated and unique designs for many people, a site like Fabcurate fills an essential requirement.
Browsing through Fabcurate
I was totally spoilt for choices when I went to the website. It was like stepping into a whole new world of fabrics. Various types of silks from all over India – Muga, Chanderi, Uppada as well as raw silk. Then there is organza, net, georgette and so many fashionable choices. But what caught my attention was pure cotton fabrics and a plethora of designs reflecting different Indian art forms. These include the traditional hand block printing , Batik prints, Kalamkari, as well as modern designs like geometric, abstract etc.
Besides women’s fashion, there are specific designs available for babies and men as well. There are designs suggested for baby apparels and bedding, men’s formal-wear, sherwani etc.
Along with fabrics you can shop for accessories to make your garments stand out – hair accessories, laces, kaftans etc.
There is an exquisite collection of home furnishings like curtains, sofa cover etc.
My personal experience with Fabcurate
I ordered two cotton fabrics from Fabcurate and went for my favorite traditional designs.
First one is a white and pink floral hand print design with mirror-work which I intend to turn into a fusion-themed dress.
Handblock printing technique is an age-old block printing technique from India, originating from Rajasthan. Complex designs are crafted by talented artisans on wooden blocks which are then used for printing the textiles. Fabcurate has an irresistible of handblocked cotton textiles showcasing the craft of India. The light colored print I chose came exactly as shown in the pictures – simple and elegant.
The second one is a batik print in black. Batik is an age-old art of creating abstract patterns out of wax and dyes. The allure of batik and black was irresistible for me so I bought them without having any special garment in mind. I’ll let the fabric inspire the final output for me.
The order was delivered in an eco-friendly cloth bag that I can keep using for shopping and carrying things. The order arrived within 5 days of placing it. For both the prints I got exactly what I saw on the internet. The quality was way better than what we normally get in local brick and mortar stores.
I thoroughly recommend you to go and check out this amazing website. I am impressed by the genuine endeavor to fill a gap that exists in the design market.
Here are the top reasons I recommend Fabcurate:
- Stunning Variety of designs
- Pocket-friendly – There are materials priced as low as Rs. 215 per meters
- Premium quality of material
- Easeof ordering
