Gifts for a travel lover
Wondering what to gift the travel-lover of your life this year? She/he is financially independent and have been travelling for long enough to have all that she needs to make her travels easier. Then what can I buy for someone who seems to have everything sorted? Trolley bag? Carry-on luggage? Travel shoes? They must already have these essentials figured out for themselves. Here’s a gift guide telling you what travel-lovers actually want, “as a gift”, rather than buying it for themselves.

Travel Pin board
Budget: Rs.1000 – Rs. 2000
It’s not a surprise that travel lovers love different ways to keep their travel memories alive ,and show it off too. This blog is also my way of doing the same. But not always do we feel like buying these fancy little things for ourselves. Like a world map pin-board. Remember the romance of timeless romance “Up”? This A3-size board from Oye Happy is inspired by the animation movie and has a flying house with colorful pins as its balloons. Pin the places you have visited or want to visit. You can also pin small photos of the places you have been to.
For a smaller budget you can get bulletin boards like the one above. These are priced at ~rs.600 and can be used for a similar purpose – displaying photos, pinning locations on the world map etc. The size is smaller than the Oye Happy pinboard so you can’t probably pin photos in specific locations. Here are some options you can look into:
Travel Scrapbook
Budget: <rs.500

For adult travel-lovers with a creative spark, travel scrapbooks are their secret wish. They won’t buy these for themselves as it might seem childish and a waste of money. That’s why present these to them and they will love it.

Printelligent Gift for Loved one
Fancy Travel Journal
Budget: Rs.500 – Rs.1000
Every time I come across these fancy leather-finish journals with handmade papers I wish I had them. But then, what’s the utility when I could simply take notes in my phone or notepad? Well, it’s about aesthetics and a feel-good factor which you can bring with a lovely gift of travel journal.
Cavallo has some really gorgeous travel journals for writing and doodling during travels. Visit the Cavallo Store to explore the world of unique journals.
Other options are:
Electronics Organizer
Ever went for a trip and struggled with managing your chargers, USB cables, power bank, batteries, memory cards etc.? I think we all have been there. So, a sleek electronic organizer will be a blessing for the travel lower in your life.
This 3-layer organizer bag from Seagull is made of waterproof nylon material. Strong and durable with padded foam around to protect the items inside against scratches, dust, impact and accidental dropping. The zippers enable convenient access
Other Electronics organisers from Stoique and House of Quirks.
Packing Cubes
I learnt about packing cubes from fellow travel bloggers and know how useful they are. But then, being from an Indian middle-class household I own a stock of good-quality plastic bags of different sizes neatly stacked under my mattress. We often use them as packing cubes for our travels. Yes they don’t come with zippers and are not as convenient as the beautiful packing cubes, but they serve their purpose. I wouldn’t mind these as a gift even if I had one set of packing cubes already. Neither would any travel lower you know.
So here are my top 5 picks for some unique travel gifts this season. As promised, I stayed away from the usual “essentials” and kept everything within a pocket-friendly budget. Just an unrelated information – my birthday is coming soon..

I think packing cubes are still underrated. I used them two times, and I was so happy with the organized trip.
